Prostate Cancer Prevention Can Save Your Life If You Live a Healthy Lifestyle
While there are literally hundreds of possible ways you can go about achieving prostate cancer prevention, there is a certain percentage of prostate cancer cases that are completely unpreventable. This is due mostly to the genetic code which has been passed down through your family and could make you more susceptible to prostate cancer after the age of fifty. However, even though many people can not help but come down with prostate cancer, there is a great percentage who can prevent possible prostate cancer with some around the house remedies, a healthy diet, regular checks and some completely off the wall natural herbs. No matter which method you choose to help you ward off possible prostate cancer, it is important to remember that you should firmly believe that the method will work for you – after all, the mind is a powerful tool when it comes to combating disease and illness. Possibly the most important prostate cancer prevention technique is the annual test. All men, no matter what their history of prostate cancer, should receive at least one test per year after they hit fifty. This includes both the blood test and the “touch” test. Although most instances of prostate cancer appear in men over age sixty five, around thirty percent of men fifty to sixty five are at risk of developing prostate cancer. While the screening tests are not really technically prostate cancer prevention, they can help you fight the cancer by catching it before it spreads out of control in your body. Diet is another important way to go about prostate cancer prevention. Recent scientific studies have concluded that countries in which people eat more healthy foods and less fat, the men have much lower occurrences of prostate cancer. According to sources at the American Cancer Society, men who eat around twenty eight servings of fruits or vegetables were much less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who ate half as many servings. It has also been suggested that people who eat fish as a regular part of their diet are less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who eat little to no fish. Herring, salmon and mackerel were proved to be the best for prostate cancer prevention. Prostate cancer prevention is also available in the form of vitamins and minerals. Although such supplements are still undergoing extensive scientific screening, early tests have shown that selenium and vitamin E are an excellent way to engage in active prostate cancer prevention. A daily recommended dose of each of those vitamins may be an excellent way to prevent nearly any form of prostate cancer – but be sure to check with your doctor before engaging in any vitamin therapy (as there may be reactions with any current medication you may be taking).
